What is Fullerene (C60)?
Fullerene C60 belongs to the family of carbon molecules—including C60, C70, C76, C82, and C84—and represents one of the eight allotropic forms of carbon, alongside graphite and diamond.
C60 is a molecule composed of 60 carbon atoms arranged in a unique geometric structure—a truncated icosahedron with a Fibonacci structure, forming a hollow spherical cage. It is the only molecule composed of a single element that forms this type of polyhedral spherical structure.
