Proper timing and treatment are crucial in this case. Stroke can cause temporary or permanent disabilities that involve paralysis of one half of the body (limbs, torso, sometimes the face), the opposite of the injured cerebral hemisphere. After such an accident, the patient will need intensive neurological recovery, which must be started immediately after discharge from the hospital. The longer the physical therapy is delayed, the more difficult the recovery will be, with the risk that certain segments may never be recovered.
For starters, in the post-acute phase, a minimum of 2-3 hours of therapy per day will be required, a minimum of 5 days per week. Subsequently, in the chronic phase, the sessions will have a periodicity of 2-3 times a week and can last for a year, depending on the severity of the sequelae. Through physiotherapy exercises, the aim is to restore the neural connection, mobility, coordination, balance.
The patient must relearn the movement, send back to the brain imposed from the affected segment (hand, foot). The physiotherapist will be with the patient at every step, will support him, will guide him, will re-teach him to move as before. The exercises are complex and personalized.

The results depend on the age, the severity of each case. You don't have to wait for a 100% recovery, the stroke leaves, unfortunately, signs impossible to erase. But over time, with patience, the results can be truly spectacular.
