WEGAMED BCA BODY CONSULTATION AND ANALYSIS (BIA)
BCA – Wegamed, which can be used both together with the Wegamed Sports Medical Check-up and independently, is based on more than 20 years of research in bioimpedance analysis (BIA).

Initial BCA Consultation – Wegamed
The initial consultation represents the first essential step before performing the BCA (Bioelectrical Body Composition Analysis). Its role is to provide a complete medical and functional context so that the investigation results can be correctly and individually interpreted.
During the consultation, the specialist assesses the medical history, lifestyle, level of physical activity, personal goals (weight loss, muscle gain, health optimization, sports performance), and any existing medical conditions. Eating habits, hydration level, sleep, and stress factors are also analyzed.
This stage allows for:
▪️ adapting the investigation to the real needs of each individual;
▪️ identifying potential risk factors;
▪️ correctly correlating BCA parameters with overall health status;
▪️ establishing personalized recommendations for nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle.
The initial consultation, together with the BCA analysis, provides a complete and accurate picture of metabolic and functional health, being a valuable tool for both prevention and progress monitoring.
BCA – Wegamed
This method measures body composition — fat, muscle mass, water, and other functional parameters — providing extensive information about overall health and metabolism.
The analysis is performed by detecting the speed at which very weak electrical currents pass through the body. This technology can even capture fine variations related to short metabolic rhythms (seconds or minutes), thus complementing information about daily and monthly biological rhythms.
The device uses electrodes, sending negative and positive alternating currents of 13 Hz in four preset sequences. For each body segment, electrical parameters and the body’s response are measured. Deviations from normal values may indicate health issues and provide essential information about organ function and influencing factors.
Parameters Measured in BCA (BIA) Analysis
Body Mass Index (BMI)
BMI evaluates body weight relative to height (BMI = kg/m²). Categories:
▪️ Underweight: BMI < 18.5 — may indicate malnutrition or chronic disease.
▪️ Normal weight: BMI 18.5–24.9 — associated with a low risk of cardiovascular disease.
▪️ Overweight: BMI 25–29.9 — increased risk of hypertension and type 2 diabetes.
▪️ Obesity: BMI ≥ 30 — increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.
Note: BMI does not reflect fat distribution or muscle mass.
Body Cell Mass (BCM)
Includes all cells actively involved in metabolic processes, such as muscles, organs, and blood. BCM is essential for energy production, metabolism, and overall health. A decrease in BCM may indicate malnutrition or muscle loss.
Extracellular Mass (ECM)
Includes extracellular fluids, connective tissues, and bone mass. ECM supports body structure, nutrient transport, and waste elimination. Changes may indicate fluid retention, inflammation, or dehydration.
Body Fat Mass
Represents all fat reserves (subcutaneous and visceral). Increased visceral fat is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Body Water
Accounts for 50–70% of body weight and is divided into:
▪️ Intracellular water: two-thirds of the total, essential for cellular functions.
▪️ Extracellular water: one-third of the total, including blood plasma and interstitial fluid, important for nutrient transport and temperature regulation.
Lean Body Mass
Includes all body components except fat: muscles, bones, organs, and water. It is an indicator of physical health and fitness.
PhaseArc°
PhaseArc is an indicator of cellular health and vitality. Derived from the relationship between electrical resistance and reactance, a higher phase angle indicates better cellular integrity and overall health.
